We made an audience research to find out why people choose the music they do, whether videos make a difference, what attracts people to videos and what puts them off. We asked them eight questions in form of a survey and here are the results:
1. Do you like dance music and why?
10 people answered with: Yes
The most common reason for liking dance music is: because it is entertaining.
2. Do you watch the music videos of the music you listen to?
6 people answered with: Yes, sometimes
4 people answered with: Yes, but only if the song is really good
3. What do you like in music videos?
An entertaining storyline, entertaining effects, flashing lights, color, fast editing, dancing skills, creativity, women, cars, nice locations, clubs;
4. Do you still like the song after you have watched the video to it?
3 people answered with: Yes
5 people answered with: Yes, but only if the video was good
2 people answered with: No, if the video was distasteful
5. What do you get out of watching a music video?
A feeling for the song, knowledge, entertainment, association to certain objects from the video, pleasure, fun, picturing the song, giving images of others people creativity;
6. Do you like black and white music videos?
3 people answered with: Yes
4 people answered with: No, color is better
3 people answered with: It depends on the mood
7. What don’t you like in some dance music videos?
Bad storyline, too stereotypical things, slow/boring story, too many half dressed girls, too much sexism, too packed;
8. What do you prefer: a sing-along music video or a story based music video?
